Æon Books
New Æon Books is an independent esoteric art and publishing project dedicated to Tarot, occult symbolism, Thelema, Qabalah, digital art and contemporary ritual technology. Our mission is to bring the symbolic knowledge of ancient esoteric traditions into the contemporary world, preserving their depth while exploring new visual languages for a new generation of seekers, artists and readers. At the heart of this work is the New Æon Tarot: a contemporary tarot project inspired by the symbolic architecture of the Thoth Tarot and developed through a hybrid creative process combining human artistic direction, symbolic research, photography, AI-assisted image exploration, Photoshop editing and digital post-production.
The New
Æon Tarot Project
The New Æon Tarot is a contemporary esoteric tarot deck inspired by the symbolic architecture of the Thoth Tarot. It is not a reproduction or clone of the historical deck, but an original artistic reinterpretation shaped by occult study, visual experimentation and digital image-making. The project explores the relationship between ancient initiatory systems and contemporary technology, approaching Tarot as a living symbolic language rather than a closed historical artifact.
Sara Rio
INDEPENDENT RESEARCHER | VISIONARY CREATOR | OCCULTIST - Sara Rio is the founder and symbolic director of the New Æon Tarot project. Her work explores Tarot, Magick, Thelema, Qabalah and contemporary esoteric practice through a syncretic and visionary approach. She leads the conceptual, symbolic and editorial direction of the deck, researching occult correspondences, archetypal structures, ritual language and the visual grammar of the Thoth Tarot tradition. Through New Æon Books, Sara investigates how ancient initiatory systems can be reimagined in the digital age without losing their depth, mystery or transformative power.
Alessio Rio
PHOTOGRAPHER | CREATIVE ALCHEMIST | SEEKER OF BALANCE - Alessio Rio is a photographer and visual artist whose work is rooted in image-making, composition, atmosphere and visual storytelling. With a background in photography and visual production, he brings technical precision and artistic sensitivity to the New Æon Tarot project. His contribution includes photography, visual research, image refinement and the development of a coherent aesthetic language for the deck. Together with Sara Rio, he helps transform symbolic concepts into images that speak to both the occult imagination and the contemporary eye.
Our Creative
Process
The New Æon Tarot is not created by AI alone. AI is one of several tools used within a wider artistic and esoteric process. Each image emerges from symbolic research, human direction, visual experimentation, photography, AI-assisted exploration, Photoshop editing, compositing and digital post-production. The process is guided by human judgment, occult study and a commitment to preserving the symbolic integrity of the tarot system. For us, technology is not a replacement for the artist or the initiate. It is a mirror, a medium and a ritual instrument through which ancient symbols can be explored in new forms.
Our Vision
New Æon Books exists to explore the meeting point between ancient wisdom and contemporary vision. We believe Tarot is not a closed system, but a living symbolic language. Through art, publishing, research and digital experimentation, we aim to create works that honor the esoteric traditions of the past while opening them to the imagination of the present. The New Æon Tarot is our first major project: a deck for readers, practitioners, collectors and seekers who feel that the old symbols still speak — but demand to be seen anew.
